How I Tutor Maths

My Tutoring approach

As a teacher I aim to create in my students a thorough recognition and confidence at exams and being able to deal with new situations. My philosophy is actually based on the idea that learning occurs in an environment of reciprocal recognition wherein the scholar is encouraged to think and establish links for themselves. My practical experience has been that one-to-one individual tuition has a distinct usefulness to scholars through the opportunity to break down the learners' own difficulties to study in a manner which lays the roots for a long-term and thorough understanding of the topic.

Student’s needs and learning style meaning

My approach differs depending on the child's learning style and needs. But, the base of my teaching approach is stimulating students to think on their own, using real-world models whenever possible. |My opinion is that it is vital to provide children with a working knowledge and to practice problem-solving skill-sets for improving upon this knowledge. Teaching a person to think critically is at the base of what a learner must intercept off any subject class.

We learn through examples

The most long-lasting improvements a coach can make is training students, and it is a procedure, which I find enjoyable and rewarding. From my experience, I learned the effect of involving scholars by using models and of delivering material at a level that implies perception and yet not specifically knowledge, blending the known with the unknown in a synthesis which brings the scholar the sensation of likelihood instead of that of impossibility that impressive and authoritative techniques may inflict.

How I teach

I begin with questions the students are familiar with and move gradually to more complicated areas while their self-esteem is being built. I use examples and questions to verify grasping permanently. I don't lecture to students or tell them to memorise information. Nor do I carry out the students' homework for them!

I typically focus on exam-style as well as previous paper questions in order to examine, practice and refine the student's understanding and performance. I also give a lot of importance to some of the less vital but obvious skill sets which include logical thought, essay technique and structure, and the effective use of graphs and numbers.
